In 2005, the YSEPP (Yellow Sea Eco-Region Planning Programme) and the Global Environment Facilities (GEF) sponsored UNDP Yellow Sea Large Marine Ecosystem Project (YSLME) signed a memorandum of understanding with the aim of promoting a regionally coordinated biodiversity strategy and action plan.

In 2006, WWF’s Map of Potential Priority Areas was integrated into the UNDP Yellow Sea Large Marine Ecosystem Project (YSLME)’s Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis (TDA) report, which will serve as the scientific foundation for YSLME’s advice to Chinese and Korean governments.

Currently, WWF’s Yellow Sea team and YSLME are working closely on strategic action planning to promote biodiversity conservation and coordinated coastal and marine ecosystem management in the Yellow Sea.
